Hello again, loyal fans of Professional Awesome Racing! All the rumors that I have been abducted by aliens/pirates/pygmies have been grossly exaggerated, I’ve just been slaving away at work while the rest of the guys have been busy breaking records. My priorities aren’t in order and I look to fix that soon. Promise.
Dan-O passed this video along to me and I thought that I would be kind enough to share it with everyone on the internets! Take a ride along the fastest AWD Street car in America and see what it’s like to go flat-out on one of the most [...]
So it has been 15 days since I have returned from California and there is no recap of the event. What gives? Well, for me, the write-up of an event is a story to tell. I learned in English class, between naps and reading Road & Track, that stories are either comedies or dramas. Our trip out West was incredible fun, challenging, rewarding and something I look forward to doing again sometime soon, but it was without any major drama or ironic humor. Our previous event, in Chicago, we had to find a transmission with hours to spare. Last year in [...]
Ohh boy, where to begin? Well, perhaps at the beginning, which would be at the end of Jersey. While the car preformed admirably at New Jersey Motorsports Park, we knew we left a lot on the table. We assumed the car had at least a few seconds in it, there were certain parts that needed to be repaired and we needed new tires as well. That being said, the car was in good shape; faster without having to take big risks and Autobahn looked to be an event where we would shine.
Toyo Tires came through quite quickly with a fresh [...]
This race weekend couldn’t just be simple. Of course not. Maybe it is too much to ask for, maybe no race weekend in history has ever been simple. But for a few hours before our first timed session, it seemed like simplicity was a genuine option.
First I should go back to the beginning and explain how we ended up in Fontana for Redline Time Attack’s season finale. As most know, Mike Lewin and Grant Davis towed our beloved Evolution VII to SEMA to be displayed as a feature vehicle courtesy of one of our sponsors, Zeitronix. After SEMA, Mike had [...]
Mike Lewin and Grant Davis have started on their journey to SEMA (Specialty Equipment Marketing Association) and will display the Professional Awesome Racing Evo November 2nd through the 5th for the 100,000 expected visitors. We were invited by Zeitronix, our wideband tuning/datalogging sponsor, to be shown in the feature vehicles section.
I believe Grant is going to be using the time in Nevada to hang out with the Sierra Sierra and FXMD Time Attack teams to try and get a trip to Japan’s fabled Tsukuba race circuit. Lewin is planning on having a ‘crisis’ when he is in a town with [...]
There are two types of Professional Awesome mornings. The mornings I enjoy are the ones that consist of 11 am wakeup calls, good breakfast and a comfy couch for the remainder of the day. The other type of morning is a different animal all together. Generally the air is chilly, the Sun has yet to rise and a long day awaits. Our Gingerman test day was absolutely the latter type of morning.
Arising at 4:45 AM our weary-eyed crew started the day with the constellation of Orion prominently in the sky. After the usual predictions of how many bathroom breaks I [...]
A Tale of Two Differentials
By Daniel O’Donnell
So how did this story all begin? I guess it was Ebay, that magical world of random crap. While searching for random Evo stuff I found a place in the UK that was selling an Evo X differential. In the posting it mentioned that the differential could be easily installed on any Evo VII-IX with AYC. I hadn’t heard of this possibility before and I instantly wanted to upgrade to this part. Mitsubishi had dramatically improved the design between the VII and X and I felt our rear differential was a weak point in [...]
